Formed in Montréal, Québec in 1999, the group released their debut album No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls in November 2002. It was a surprisingly big success, reaching the Top 40 in both the US and Australia and selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide. The single Perfect was a Top 10 hit in both their native Canada and Australia, as well as reaching number 24 in the US, while the other singles I’m Just a Kid, I’d Do Anything and Addicted also performed well. This was followed by the single Don’t Wanna Think About You, which featured on the soundtrack to the 2004 film Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

However, it was the group’s second album that gave them major mainstream success. Still Not Getting Any… reached number two in the Canada, number three in the US and number six in Australia, selling millions of copies worldwide. The album gave the group their first Canadian number one hit – Welcome to My Life – as well as the Top 5 singles Untitled (How Could This Happen to Me?) and Crazy. The fourth single from the album, entitled Shut Up!, also reached number fourteen in Australian ARIA charts.

The group’s third (and latest) self-titled album was released in February 2008. Like its predecessor, it reached number two in the Canadian charts and gave the group their first UK Top 30 hit with When I’m Gone, as well as producing the Canadian Top 20 singles Your Love Is a Lie and Save You.

Simple Plan are currently recording their fourth studio album with legendary producer Brian Howes. It is set to be released sometime in early 2011.

Robbie and the American television actress started dating all the way back in May 2006, and have recently revealed that they got married last month in the couple’s Los Angeles home.

Williams first shot to fame as a member of the British boy band Take That. He has since enjoyed a successful solo career, selling more than 55 million albums and scoring hits with singles like Angels, Rock DJ, Kids, Eternity and Feel… but has recently reunited with his old band mates to record a new album.

His father Pete Conway told the News of the World that he was delighted with the news. “At last, Rob is happy… the happiest I’ve seen him,” he said. “Ayda is so beautiful. They are brilliant together.”

Miley Cyrus received a very warm welcome on a recent trip to Paris, France. As she left her hotel she was greeted by crowd of screaming fans, but she managed to squeeze through and into a waiting car.

The teenage star, who shot to fame after starring in the hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, is in the French capital working on a new movie called LOL: Laughing Out Loud. The actress has also enjoyed a successful music career in recent years, scoring hits with singles like Supergirl, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Rockstar, Goodbye, Party in the U.S.A. and When I Look At You, and there have been rumors that she is due to team up with fellow teen star Demi Lovato on her next album.

Lovato recently wrote on Twitter that they had talked about teaming up. “We talked about doing a duo together” the singer revealed. “She’s one of my best friends and she’s super talented, so I’d love to.”

Formed in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington by Cobain and Novoselic, the group went through several different drummers in their early years. They finally relocated to Seattle in 1988 with the drummer Chad Channing and signed with the independent label Sub Pop. Their debut album Bleach was released in June 1989 and was a moderate success, reaching number 89 on the US Billboard 200 and the Top 40 in the UK and Australia. It went on to sell over 1.7 million copies in the US alone and produced one single: Love Buzz. However, it was their second studio album that would catapult them to mainstream fame.

Nevermind, recorded with Grohl on drums for the first time, was released on 24th September 1991 and was an instant success. It shot to number one on the Billboard 200, as well as reaching the Top 10 in charts around the world, and went on to sell over 26 million copies – making it one of the most successful albums of the decade. It is also credited with bringing alternative rock into the mainstream. The album produced a total of four singles – Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come as You Are, Lithium and In Bloom – and is now widely considered to be one of the greatest rock albums of all time.

The group’s third studio album In Utero was another big success, reaching number one on the Billboard 200, selling over ten million copies worldwide and producing the singles Heart-Shaped Box, All Apologies/Rape Me and Pennyroyal Tea. However, it was to be their last album as Cobain’s ongoing heroin addiction led to him committing suicide on 8th April 1994.

Nirvana’s record label subsequently released the posthumous live album MTV Unplugged in New York. The release, which included now renowned cover versions of songs like David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold the World and The Vaselines’ Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam, reached number one and won the group a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Formed in 1999 in Los Angeles, California, Lifehouse released their debut album No Name Face with Dreamworks Records in October 2000. It reached number six in the US, selling over four million copies worldwide, and produced the smash hit lead single Hanging by a Moment – which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. This was followed by Sick Cycle Carousel and Breathing, which both charted inside the Top 5 in Canada. The song Everything was also used as the theme for the hit television series Smallville.

The group’s next album Stanley Climbfall was also successful, reaching the Top 10 in the US and producing the Canadian Top 10 singles Spin and Take Me Away, but they parted ways with their record company soon after its release and moved to Geffen Records. Their third studio album Lifehouse was released in March 2005 and gave the group their third straight Billboard 200 Top 10 record. It was a critical and commercial success, selling over three million copies and spawning the US number five hit single You and Me, as well as the follow up single Blind.

Since then the group have released a further two studio albums – 2007’s Who We Are and 2010’s Smoke and Mirrors – which both charted inside the Top 15 on the Billboard 200. Between them they have produced five singles to date – First Time, Whatever It Takes, Broken, Halfway Gone and All In – as well as the songs It Is What It Is (used on an episode of the television show The Vampire Diaries) and Crash and Burn (used on an episode of the television show Castle).

The group has gone through several line-up changes throughout its history, with Smith being its only constant member.

Formed in Crawley, West Sussex, England in 1976, the group was originally known as Easy Cure, before changing their name in 1978. They recorded a demo tape soon after and sent it to several record companies, eventually earning them a contract with Fiction Records – an imprint of Polydor. Their first release was the single Killing an Arab, which garnered both acclaim and controversy, followed by their debut album Three Imaginary Boys (later released in the US as Boys Don’t Cry).

The group released four more albums during the early 1980s, which all reached the Top 20 and slowly earned them an international reputation. The albums also produced songs like A Forest, Primary, The Walk, The Lovecats and The Caterpillar. However, the group enjoyed their biggest success during the later half of the eighties. 1985’s The Head on the Door saw them chart in the US Top 100 for the first time with singles like In Between Days and Close To Me, while 1987’s Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me reached number 36 in the US and produced the UK Top 30 hits Why Can’t I Be You?, Catch and Just Like Heaven. Their final album of the decade, 1989’s Disintegration, reached numbers three and twelve in the UK and US charts respectively, selling millions of copies worldwide, and spawned the hit singles Lullaby, Fascination Street, Lovesong (a US number two hit) and Pictures of You.

In the last two decades the group have released a further five studio albums, which have all reached the Top 20 on the US Billboard 200, and scored hits with singles like High, Friday I’m in Love, A Letter to Elise, The 13th and The End of the World. The Cure has sold over 30 million albums worldwide to date.

Lady Gaga has earned herself a large following over the last few years, with a host of celebrity fans to boot. But now she’s landed herself the biggest fan of all – and it’s none other than the Queen of Pop.

Madonna, who has earned her nickname after spending three decades at the top of the pop charts with hits like Material Girl, Papa Don’t Preach, Like a Prayer, Music, Hung Up and 4 Minutes, doesn’t see Gaga as a threat to her position. Instead, she has said she would love Lady Gaga to join her on tour in 2011.

A source close to the singer said: “Madonna is absolutely obsessed with Gaga. She thinks she is the most cutting-edge star to come out of pop in ages and desperately wants to work with her”

Lady Gaga is yet to respond to the invitation but one thing’s for sure – any concert with both Madonna and Lady Gaga is sure to be a record seller.

Christina Aguilera is set to make a massive loss on her home in a bid to finally get rid of it.

The pop superstar put her mansion in Hollywood Hills on the market in 2008, after paying $11.5 million for a new home in Beverly Hills which was previously owned by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Her Hollywood home was originally on the market for $8 million but a lack of market interest has led to her slashing the price on several occasions, with the latest cut of $255,000 bringing it down to a paltry $6 million.

However, the singer – who is known for hits like Genie in a Bottle, Lady Marmalade, Dirrty and Beautiful – may be forced to cut it even further as recent statistics reveal that sales of homes in the US have plummeted to their lowest level in fifteen years.

It seems that even A-List popstars are feeling the effects of the global economic crisis! He is renowned for his distinctive singing voice and various alter-egos – including Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and The Thin White Duke.

Bowie first shot to fame with the release of his 1969 single Space Oddity – which was a UK Top 5 hit – along with the album of the same name. This was swiftly followed by the 1970 album The Man Who Sold the World, which reached number 26 in the UK and included songs like The Width of a Circle, The Man Who Sold the World and The Supermen – and the 1971 album Hunky Dory, which reached number three in the UK and spawned the classic singles Changes and Life on Mars?

However, Bowie’s mainstream breakthrough came, unusually, with the 1972 concept album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Hitting number five in the UK and 75 in the US, the album spawned the singles Starman, Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide and Ziggy Stardust, and is now considered to be one of the greatest albums ever made by the likes of Rolling Stone, Q and TIME magazines.

Since then, in a career spanning five decades, David Bowie has released a further 21 studio albums (along with another 30 compilations, live albums and EPs) and a grand total of 108 singles. These include an incredible 23 UK and US Top 10 hits, such as The Laughing Gnome, Starman, The Jean Genie, Rebel Rebel, Fame, Ashes to Ashes, Fashion, Under Pressure (ft. Queen), Little Drummer Boy (ft. Bing Crosby), Let’s Dance, China Girl, Modern Love and Dancing in the Street (ft. Mick Jagger).

With over 140 million records sold to date, Bowie is generally considered to be one of most important and influential popular music figures of all time – not to mention one of the most successful.
